University of Alberta Kinsella Ranch Species checklist. This is probably only useful to people working at this site. But it's a fairly complete list of common species found in rough fescue prairie that might be useful to others.

DNA Extraction. I spent a long time figuring out how to get usable DNA out of plant roots (McNickle et al. 2009). This protocol is pretty old school by now, but it works great for getting DNA out of "difficult" tissues, such as roots.
